Maryann + Damian

Maryann and Damian were married on the 15th September at the beautiful Byron at Byron. They opted for no bridal party, and spent the morning getting ready with family. This wedding was a beautiful combination of traditional and non traditional, of DIY and styled, super fun yet moving. I absolutely loved that Maryann wore a knee length Karen Walker dress and pastel blue heels (seriously check them out-adorable!) and I couldn’t get enough of Damian’s ‘Love Wins’ pin. Susie Figgis was the perfect celebrant for this day, delivering a meaningful ceremony amongst the trees in the rainforest on the property. We captured some couple portraits at the stunning Byron at Byron venue before the party kicked off. How wonderful to have the whole event in one location. The speeches were short and sweet, followed by delicious canapes, a dessert buffet and then one fantastic party! The dance floor was going off for young and old, and so was the Frankly Booth! Congratulations Maryann & Damian, I absolutely loved capturing your rainforest Byron Bay wedding! x

Sophie + Sam

Sophie & Sam ventured from Sydney for their Winter Brisbane wedding, and what a lovely winters day it was! It’s taken me a while to get around to blogging this, but whats stayed with me was how genuinely lovely both Sophie & Sam, and their whole wedding party were. So polite, so considerate and so much love! Both Sophie and Sam got ready separately at Oaks in Brisbane meaning I could duck in to see both of them, before heading to High Church in the valley for their ceremony- led by the amazing celebrant Carly Slade. We had bridal party photos afterwards in New Farm Park before jumping on the ferry into the city to Riverlife, where other guests had been enjoying the sunset on the river with some pre dinner drinks. It was along the side of the river, with the city lights in the background that Sophie & Sam had their reception. A few tears through speeches, some laughs in the Frankly Booth, a buffet dinner, cake and donut wall for dessert and then dancing the night away! Congrats Sophie & Sam- I loved you guys a thousand yellow daisies! ;) x

Bree + Oli

Oh my heart! Not only was it stunningly beautiful, with some of the most touching words spoken and sentimental touches but the bride Bree and I go way back, which always makes it that little bit more special to capture. I had to hide those tears behind the camera often that’s for sure!

Bree and Oli have one of those lovely ‘whoops we did it backwards’ stories, finding out they were pregnant with gorgeous little Arden and then choosing to marry when he was old enough to be part of their day (or steal the show, deciding it was a great idea to hand rocks to Dad during the ceremony!) Their love for each other and their little boy shone so brightly all day.

Bree and her awesome bridal party got ready at in The Garden Burees of Byron Bay, while the groomsmen spent the morning on site at Fig Tree. Oli, being from England had family, including some of his groomsmen fly over for the wedding. His Mum giving him special gifts from relatives at home before the ceremony and explaining their importance was the sweetest.

Bree arrived, Byron style, in a funky forever kombi and was walked down the isle by her two bridesmaids, bridesmale and her Dad. A simple yet stunning ceremony followed by canapes and drinks for the guests while we stuck off to a nearby location for photos and then back to join guests for the party! As the sun went down guests were serenaded by the unbelievably talented Hailey Calvert and then enjoyed a festival style feast, tear-jerking speeches, first dance under the stars (and sparklers) many laughs in the Frankly booth and one heck of a dance off.

Oh what a night! Congratulations Bree & Oli & Arden!

Rochelle + Andrew

Rochelle and Andy came down from Mackay to Brisbane for their dream day. Rochelle was so excited to see all her hard planning (often from a screen in Mackay) come together on the day. Both Rochelle and Andy got ready in separate rooms at the Meriton Suites on Adelaide Street, before their emotional ‘first look’. Bridal party, immediate family and Rochelle & Andy then chose to do some portraits at the Powerhouse Museum in New Farm before heading to their ceremony and reception at the stunning industrial warehouse Lightspace. Guests continued the party at Lightspace for the reception enjoying the Frankly Booth, delicious cake by Petal and Peach and getting their dance on to G&M events DJ. Our videographer Hayley was along to capture the day too! (see below) Also check out that awesome donut wall that the couple made themselves! Yhhhuum! Congratulations Rochelle & Andy! x

Rochelle sent us this lovely message- “Omg Sarah!! These are so amazing - and the extra shots of the bridal party are perfection.  It was such a pleasure having you all there - you are all wonderful, kind and happy people - just who you need on your wedding day!” <3

Bethany + Adrian

Bethany and Adrian were married on Saturday 21st April 2018 at Stuartholme Chapel in Toowong. Bethany is a past student of Stuartholme, and at the moment only past students and their families are able to be wed in the chapel, making it a pretty special experience....seriously- that stained glass- Woah!

The guys spent the morning at Adrians family home, the girls at Bethany's mums place, coming together with family and friends for the ceremony in Toowong, bridal photos at Mt Coot-tha and the super beautiful reception at The Loft in Westend (I love this venue!) where they partied on with the Nick Trovas Band. It was a super lovely day and such a gorgeous, kind and chilled out couple! Congratulations Bethany & Adrian!

Jaclyn + Dan

I knew from Jaclyn's very first inquiry that I was going to love these two! Jac was so genuinely polite, and when she called me a few days later to thank me for being her photographer it was confirmed...I have the.best.couples!

Jac and Dan were married on Friday 25th August 2017 in the Brisbane City Botanical gardens. Everything was elegant and simple in the best possible way! Jac got ready at the Quay West Hotel just across the road, meaning she could literally catch the lift down and walk down the isle. With no bridal party, but a tribe of the cutest flowergirls and page boy the ceremony (conducted by Paul Redfern) went off without a hitch! It was truely a beautiful Friday afternoon in the park! After the formalities Jac and Dan wandered around the gardens for some portraits, with us all being in love with the beautiful big figs in the gardens!

We then headed down the road to Moda restuarant for their reception. They put on the most delicious paella and everyone enjoyed a relaxed dinner and drinks. Check out that cake, made by no other than the Brides mother! (Well done Mum!)

So much love to these two, congratulations Jac & Dan!

Keippa + Jake

I first met Keippa and Jake at a wedding expo, and despite meeting hundreds of people that day I clearly remember my conversation with Keippa about traveling to some place called Drake, having no idea where it was and eargerly agreeing to travel there (I'm always up for an adventure) Fast forward several months later to May 2017, and Phoebe and I are on an eventful road trip to Drake,N.S.W for an amazing adventure wedding weekend! I have never seen a bride and groom put so much thoughtful detail into a wedding. This wedding required months and months of work getting a vacant property wedding-ready! No running water, getting the shed cleared, marquee set up, bringing in toilets, hay bails , each chair, table setting & glass collected and painted, trees cleared, a bridge built! It was epic..and so worth it! The whole wedding party, 100 people strong, came together to pitch in and get jobs done to create a rather spectacular ceremony and reception. With any great plan, things go wrong- it flooded the day before the wedding- no problem said coordinator Melissa- we'll put hay down, and build a stage for the Frankly Booth! The bride can no longer arrive via helicopter...no problem! We'll spray paint this old ute gold and still make a grand entrance! After firing his shot gun, Keippa's Dad showed his softer side, singing his little girl down the isle while I blubbered away like a baby and tried to keep my camera still! Family and friends chipped in to make it happen. They camped on the property that Keippa (Bride) spent her childhood visiting for camping trips, while the Bridal party got ready at the Drake Hotel. The big advantage of a reception like this is no curfew, no noise complains, which meant they could party long into the night, dancing away to the band, Occa Rock(so awesome!)with family members also busting out a tune (and I mean busting, like woah, this family has pipes!)  and enjoying a delicious country roast by In Good Taste Catering.

Keippa & Jake- it was all so worth it! What wonderful memories you will have. Thank you for the country hospitality- we'll come back any time!

Emma + James

I love that all my couples are different, and that my weddings don't fit the cookie cutter mould- white poofy dress scenario. Sometimes couples are low key & sweet, like James and Emma so it's fitting that their wedding was too! I met James and Emma the day before their wedding at Walkabout Creek. This is a bit unusual for me, as normally I have months to get to know and plan a wedding day, but James and Emma had popped over from the UK and decided to get hitched whilst home in Queensland, among family, friends and the gum trees! I loved them instantly and was super excited to be their photographer. They had an intimate mid-morning ceremony by the creek, followed by a lunch at local Ashgrove cafe, The Hub. A wedding doesn't have to be big, OTT or stressful to be beautiful and capture the love of two individuals and James and Emma's love shone through!  What a wonderful whirlwind it was- check out some of the highlights below...

Leanne & Chris

I absolutely love shooting in new locations- it's exciting, refreshing and inspiring! I was really excited to shoot at Old Petrie Town, where Leanne and Chris held their intimate ceremony on a Friday in May. (Can I also say, I do love a Friday wedding!) Old Petrie Town had been on my list for a while, and Mirra in Fortitude Valleywhere their reception was held was also a new venue for me, it was a good day!

For those that don't know, Old Petrie Town is a restored historic village replicating life pre 1930's, located about 30 mins from Brisbane and surrounded by bush. It has the cutest little old stores and buildings but it's the 300+ year old Morton Bay Figs that stole Leanne and Chris's hearts....and mine to be honest.

Opting for a low key, DIY wedding (and pulling it off!) Leanne got ready at home, made a lot of the little touches and crafted her own bouquet like a boss! (Seriously, I was so impressed) The bridal party arrived via Kombi (VW Love Bus) and just snuck their ceremony in around the rain! The incredibly lovely Carly Slade delivered a beautiful ceremony, filled with the cutest touches, a highlight being quotes from children on love. They followed the ceremony with their wedding cake (another new idea to me!) so guests could enjoy it as afternoon tea and then we explored the town for couple photos.

It was then onto Mirra for the party, and my gosh Mirra was impressive! I've spent a lot of time in function venues (due to weddings and previous jobs) and can say that the staff at Mirra were excellent- top notch customer service! I take my hat off to any venue that manages to run a smooth reception, feed all the guests delicious food and keep them happy as well as properly look after the vendors! Phoebe was there running the Frankly Booth for me and we had an awesome time partying with the guests!

Congratulations Leanne and Chris! What an amazing day!

Gigi + Luke

Gigi and Luke were married at Toowoomba's stunning Preston Peak Wineries back in November 2016- since then their wedding has been made into a stunning album, and also featured in Queensland Brides Magazine. Such an incredible setting for their classy countryside garden party wedding. The ceremony was held on site under the gorgeous wedding tree chapel. Gigi and Luke combined elements of a traditional ceremony with modern DIY touches, lawn games and a relaxed garden party followed the ceremony and then a sit down reception catered by Preston Peak. Then, party time! Lots of fun with the Frankly Booth, a conga line and a 100 people strong dance party! Congratulations Gigi and Luke!

The best of 2016!

As 2016 has drawn to a close I took some time to look back on 2016 and all the incredible things I got to be a part of! It got a bad wrap, but for me 2016 was pretty wonderful-  I met so many amazing people, saw beautiful ceremonies and got to travel to some incredible places. Heres some of my favourite moments.  I'm so looking forward to 2017 and everything it brings!

The Brides Market Babalou Shoot

Flashback to the time I got to be involved in this wonderful styled collaborative shoot at Babalou in Kingscliff for The Brides Market. This shoot was featured on the wonderful White Magazines Blog (click here to see it) It really is such a pleasure to get to work with such talented ladies in business (and a few rad guys too!) I would recommend any of these vendors and their stunning work!

Kristy + Ryan

Kristy and Ryans' country wedding was nothing short of adorable! Set in the stunning Samford- the wedding and reception were both held at Samford Lakes Accommodation. The wedding, including a bridal party of 14, page boys and flower girl plus a 9 month pregnant bridesmaid (who looked totally incredible by the way) went off without a hitch- largely due to the amazing team (see below for credits but cue plug for Danielle from Him & Her events) but also because of the chilled nature of Kristy and Ryan! A beautiful ceremony by the lake (which takes the cake for making me both laugh and cry the most so far-thanks Ryan!) followed by one hell of a party in the barn! Congratulations Kristy and Ryan (and Leo!) All the best for your next adventure! xo
