I absolutely love shooting in new locations- it's exciting, refreshing and inspiring! I was really excited to shoot at Old Petrie Town, where Leanne and Chris held their intimate ceremony on a Friday in May. (Can I also say, I do love a Friday wedding!) Old Petrie Town had been on my list for a while, and Mirra in Fortitude Valleywhere their reception was held was also a new venue for me, it was a good day!

For those that don't know, Old Petrie Town is a restored historic village replicating life pre 1930's, located about 30 mins from Brisbane and surrounded by bush. It has the cutest little old stores and buildings but it's the 300+ year old Morton Bay Figs that stole Leanne and Chris's hearts....and mine to be honest.

Opting for a low key, DIY wedding (and pulling it off!) Leanne got ready at home, made a lot of the little touches and crafted her own bouquet like a boss! (Seriously, I was so impressed) The bridal party arrived via Kombi (VW Love Bus) and just snuck their ceremony in around the rain! The incredibly lovely Carly Slade delivered a beautiful ceremony, filled with the cutest touches, a highlight being quotes from children on love. They followed the ceremony with their wedding cake (another new idea to me!) so guests could enjoy it as afternoon tea and then we explored the town for couple photos.

It was then onto Mirra for the party, and my gosh Mirra was impressive! I've spent a lot of time in function venues (due to weddings and previous jobs) and can say that the staff at Mirra were excellent- top notch customer service! I take my hat off to any venue that manages to run a smooth reception, feed all the guests delicious food and keep them happy as well as properly look after the vendors! Phoebe was there running the Frankly Booth for me and we had an awesome time partying with the guests!
